11:00 am - PEOPLE POWERED PICK UP - Walk & Clean to Downtown - Everyone in Plattsburgh is invited to leave their homes at 11 am with a disposable grocery bag in hand, walk to downtown and pick up trash as they go. Let's have the cleanest city in the nation!

*To bring greater awareness of the needs and benefits of developing a stronger local, green, and sustainable based economy, social network, governance and culture.
*To educate and foster the next generation of community and environmental caretakers/guardians who will work to increasingly better meet the needs of all in the local community in ways that best benefit our global community.

Meet at Jeff's at 12 noon to organize - 11A Elizabeth Street (563-2038)
Actual Parade 1-4 pm - Starts at Jeffs and ends at the Durkee St. parking lot downtown

Everyone is welcomed to join in. Build a costume or puppet with Jeff and Kim's help or suggest a new aspect or just show up and walk with the Parade. This is a parade to join, not to watch from the road side. (Although you can see it from the road side as long as you walk along too.

Much of the way this parade goes where it needs to go but it will definitely go over the foot bridge behind Plattsburgh High School and stop at the large Oak tree near the old football field. Later it will go by the Angel College Center. If you can only participate for part of it you may want to jump in or out at these two locations.

In case of rain the parade will go on but without the puppets. You may still join the walk!

Book/Study Group - "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle"
April 20th - Gail Brill who started the Adirondack Green Circle, a grass roots environmental group that is striving to implement sustainable practices in the community, and the Transition Initiative will be speaking about sustainability, the book, and starting these two groups. Those people that want to join the reading group should contact Marti at 593-5072.

Copies of the book can be signed out at the Circulation Desk at the Plattsburgh Public Library. It will also be available for purchase at the Borders book store at the Champlain Center Mall.

United Methodist Women's Group Presents 2 Films:

2009 CITY VISION PROJECT - Green City

Mike Kelly, a City of Plattsburgh Councilor recently formed the Green Committee in an attempt to help make Plattsburgh the "Greenest" City in the US. This committee's sub-committee, The Green Awareness/Education Committee wants to know what our community thinks the Greenest City would look like and why that would be important.

We are making a joint effort to survey as many organizations as possible to find thier answers to these questions. We will then post those visions on a separate page for all to consider and use to develop a new vision for the City of Plattsburgh.
